"While achieving consistently high quality levels is always the primary focus at UNIVEG, it is not always easy to manage specifications across multiple users in the supply chain. So UNIVEG Belgium adopted our web-based platform to do exactly that.
"Greenlight Quality Control, it was hoped, would create, share, approve and manage product specifications to make it possible for any Quality Controller (QC) at any point in the supply chain (grower, supplier, UNIVEG or retailer) to work to the same set of preagreed specifications, on any device and wherever they are working.
"The project began in September 2013 by examining UNIVEG’s process flows, before in the first half of 2014, focus switched to perfecting the interface with warehouse management systems, while the quality team started to dovetail product specifications with customers and suppliers.
"Suppliers and customers are using the system more extensively as it evolves and knowledge and experience is being shared within the UNIVEG Group, with a view to sharing more in future.
GLQC went live in December 2014. Around 2,000 checks were performed in the first month, and roughly 1,000 additional checks have been added each month since. During the rest of 2015 GLQC will roll out to every UNIVEG Belgium location and include controls on incoming and outgoing product, as well as stock.
"Predictability and transparency in the supply chain avoid complaints and waste. Already, UNIVEG Belgium has seen its performance improve and customer complaints decrease. Looking ahead, GLQC will roll out to every UNIVEG Belgium location and include controls on incoming and outgoing product, as well as stock controls."
